Katherine was born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) and underwent three open-heart surgeries early in life, including the Fontan procedure.
Her journey reminds our family how strong children living with congenital heart disease are — and how much it means when a community shows up for them.

Katherine’s journey was the beginning of AllHeartWarriorsMatter. Our mission has also been strengthened by heart warrior Alexander and his family. Michelle Rehren and her family are an important part of the organization, and Alexander’s courage is another powerful inspiration as we work to support every Heart Warrior.
